Todos nos hemos levantado tristes algun dia, más de lo normal. La causa varia, las cosas salen mal, la gente se hace daño, pero en este caso es la misma de siempre.
Para esos dias malos, con el ánimo bajo, necesitamos algo que nos ayude. Hay gente que necesita de otra gente, hay gente que bebe o se droga. En mi caso necesito alguna canción alegre, la música es mi salvación, y me aferro a ella con uñas y dientes.

"Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar", es una de las canciones más importantes del grupo dentro de su repertorio, porque fue el primer single que logra publicar Mecano y además, es la canción que los dio a conocer no solo en España, sino también en otros países... Ésta canción de Mecano sale publicada a la venta al público mucho tiempo antes de estar ya terminado el álbum completo en donde se incluyó finalmente éste tema en cuestión... Se puede decir que... Se lanzó ésta canción a manera de "experimento" por parte de la Casa Disquera, un tanto para sondear el cómo resultaban las ventas del single en el mercado y, obviamente, la aceptación o no del público en última instancia.

La canción comenzó a ser promocionada en la radio y poco a poco fue despertando el interés en el público radio-escucha, esto, al poco tiempo se vio reflejado como es lógico en muy buenas ventas del sencillo, lo cual motivo a C.B.S. en arriesgarse a publicar otro single. Gran parte de ésta promoción a nivel de las emisoras de radio, fue realizada por los mismos Mecano, notivado a una falta de promoción y logistica por tarte de la misma disquera.

Aunque en los créditos del disco aparece refejado de manera oficial que la autoría del tema está acargo de los dos Hermanos Cano (José en la letra del tema y Nacho en la música) se sabe ya—no solo por comentarios de los mismos integrantes del grupo en entrevistas, sino también por las Biografías Autorizadas que se han publicado hasta el momento—que el autor real de la canción es Ignacio Cano... Se desconocen las razones especificas por la cual se llegó al acuerdo que aparecieran ellos dos como co-autores del mismo.

La canción nos narra las terribles consecuencias que sufren los jóvenes al día siguiente después de pasar toda una noche de juerga: "Bebiendo, fumando y sin parar de reir" (sic) tal como nos menciona parte de la letra de la canción. Los primeros en hacerse eco de ésta canción obviamente fue el público adolescente, aunque también despertaron el interés entre los adultos-comtenporaneos y personas mayores.

Vale la pena mencionar que a pesar que "Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar" fue la carta de presentación en España básicamente y en algunos partes de Europa, en otros países esto no sucedio así, que ya el grupo fue dado a conocer o se hizo famoso precisamente con otras canciones... Está el caso de Venezuela, en donde Mecano empezó a darse a concocer con el tema de "Aire" (por poner un ejemplo) canción ésta que funcionó muy bien en ese país.

"Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar" tuvo como canción acompañante en el Lado B a un tema inédito no incluido finalmente en el repertorio original del LP, se trata de "Quiero Vivir En La Ciudad", tema que curiosamente también se hizo sonar mucho en la radio.

Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven

"Stairway to Heaven" es una famosa e influyente canción del grupo de rock británico Led Zeppelin, considerado por muchos como uno de los puntos culminantes de la historia del rock. Es una de las canciones más solicitadas en las emisoras de radios de los EE.UU., "Stairway to Heaven", del cuarto álbum de Led Zeppelin, no se ha publicado nunca en single. La canción se comenzó a componer durante las sesiones de grabación de Led Zeppelin III, en Bron-Yr-Aur, Gales, pero fue terminada en Headley Grange, Hampshire, y finalmente grabada en Island Studios, Londres, en diciembre de 1970. No está enteramente claro si el título de la canción está inspirado en el título de una película. En la famosa revista Guitar World, el solo de guitarra en La menor creado por Jimmy Page para esta canción fue elegido como el mejor de la historia.

Antes de publicarse "Led Zeppelin IV", Led Zeppelin interpretó Stairway to Heaven en publico por primera vez en un concierto en el Ulster Hall de Belfast el 5 de marzo de 1971. Cuando terminaron de interpretarla, el público se quedó en silencio, y se dice que ante esta situación Robert Plant comentó a los demás integrantes del grupo: Creo que vamos a eliminar esta canción del disco. Sin embargo, cuando Plant volvió a mirar al público una atronadora ovación de gente enloquecida pidió que repitieran la canción. A partir de esa fecha, Led Zeppelin tocó Stairway to Heaven en todos sus conciertos hasta el último que dieron en 1980 en Berlín, Alemania. En esta última ocasión se grabó la versión más larga de Stairway.

Famosas grabaciones de interpretaciones de esta canción han sido en el Live Aid de 1985 y en el cuadragésimo aniversario de Atlantic Records en 1988, y por Jimmy Page como versión instrumental en sus conciertos de solista.

Es la partitura más vendida de la música rock, pues desde 1971 se ha vendido más de 1,2 millones de ejemplares. Led Zeppelin IV, el álbum que contiene Stairway to Heaven, aún vende más de 4000 copias a la semana en Estados Unidos.

Es una canción poco versionada por otros intérpretes, o al menos no hay versiones exitosas hasta el momento
